Operation Pelican
Following a joint investigation by the NACC and the AFP over ten days in March 2024, a former employee of the Western Sydney Airport was charged with soliciting a corrupt commission, under section 249B of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).
The alleged bribe of $250,000 related to a procurement contract for services at the airport worth an estimated $5 million.
The former employee has pleaded guilty and the matter is next due in court on 22 May 2025. Read more information in our media release.

Operation Mint
On 6 December 2022, and following a joint investigation led by ACLEI with the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Victoria Police and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre, a member of the AFP was arrested for corruption, theft and money laundering offences allegedly committed between January and April 2019. On 1 July 2023, the NACC took on responsibility for this and other ACLEI investigations.
The person alleged to have stolen cryptocurrency in the sum of 47 Bitcoin. At the time, the value of the Bitcoin was more than $100,000. The person in question was suspended without pay.
In February 2024, the person in question was committed for trial in the Melbourne County Court, on charges of contraventions of sections 142.2(1) and 400.4(1) of the Criminal Code and section 74 of the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic), following a contested committal hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
In August 2024, the person in question was charged on indictment, with allegedly committing offences contrary to section 142.2(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth) and section 74 of the Crimes Act 1958 (Vic).
This matter has been widely reported on in the media.

Operation Carbunup
Operation Carbunup was a joint investigation commenced by the former ACLEI and Home Affairs into an allegation that a former Immigration Officer had facilitated the unlawful entry of a foreign national into Australia. On 1 July 2023, the NACC took on responsibility for this and other ACLEI investigations.
On 19 July 2024, the person was charged with one count of Abuse of Public Office contrary to section 142.2(1) and seventeen counts of Unauthorised Access to Restricted Data contrary to section 478.1(1) of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).

Operation Harvey
Operation Harvey was a joint investigation commenced by the former ACLEI and Home Affairs into allegations that a former Australian Border Force (ABF) officer had conducted a number of unauthorised accesses to Home Affairs systems and had undeclared criminal associations. On 1 July 2023, the NACC took on responsibility for this and other ACLEI investigations.
On 23 August 2024, the former ABF Officer was charged with providing a false declaration, unauthorised access to restricted data, making a record of Immigration and Border Protection Information, and providing false or misleading information.
The matter has been listed for sentence on 7 April 2025.

Operation Angelo
Operation Angelo was an investigation led by the former Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) into allegations that a former Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) employee had made numerous unauthorised accesses between about 17 December 2010 and 13 January 2022 on departmental ICT systems. On 1 July 2023, the NACC took on responsibility for this and other ACLEI investigations.
On 29 October 2024, the Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney imposed a sentence of 14 months imprisonment, to be released immediately on a recognisance to be of good behaviour for two years.
On 25 November 2024, the Home Affairs employee lodged an appeal against the conviction and sentence. The appeal is listed to be heard on 19 May 2025.
